Directions for applying DLUX ceramic coating on plastic:
1. Preparation for plastic trim:- Make sure the surface is cool and dry. (Do not apply to hot surfaces or in direct sun.)
- Scrub surface with an all-purpose cleaner and microfiber towel.
- Rinse while agitating with a microfiber towel to remove all residue from the APC.
- Dry surface.
- Wipe the surface with CARPRO Eraser, wipe dry, and then allow plastic to evaporate 20 minutes before applying.
2. Application on plastic trim:
- Wet the applicator with a strip of CQUARTZ DLUX Trim & Wheel Coating and spread evenly across a small area at a time.
- When applying, it is VERY important to work one area in even as you go.
- Start in one corner and work out! Do not take on a huge area at once.
- Apply nice and even as you go. Do not try to spread too thin, but be sure to work it to an even coat in the first minute before moving to the next overlapping area. After a minute you should not be going back over that area.
- Textured trim: do not wipe it off; just be sure you apply it EVENLY and fully into the texture.
- *Brand new textured plastic: use DLUX ceramic coatings at your own risk—see explanation at the bottom.
- Smooth Plastic: You should wipe it off before it becomes too sticky. This results in a thinner coat that doesn’t last as long, but on some smooth plastics there is not an easy way to apply it evenly.
Directions for Painted and Chrome Wheels:
- Wash wheels thoroughly.
- Decontaminate wheels with IronX.
- Polish surface as needed.
- Wipe-down surface with CARPRO Eraser.
- On wheels (metal, chrome, clear coat, etc.), let DLUX cure for 1 minute at 90°F or up to 8 minutes at 50°F.
- Use a CARPRO 2 Face Microfiber to wipe it off in a circular motion until clear.
- Allow the CARPRO DLUX coating to cure 1-3 hours without water being introduced to the surface.
- If it gets wet during the first 24 hours, wipe off water before it dries on the surface as a precaution.
- After 3 days you are free to wash as needed.
Directions for Matte/ Satin wheels:
*Matte/Satin Wheels: use DLUX ceramic coating at your own risk—see instructions below.
- Wash thoroughly.
- Thoroughly strip with P21S Total Auto Wash, rinse, and dry.
- Decontaminate with Iron X carefully.
- Do NOT polish the surface—NEVER polish a matte surface.
- Wipe-down with CARPRO Eraser.
- Let it flash for 1 minute at 90°F and use a CARPRO 2 Face Microfiber to wipe it off in a circular motion until clear.
- Allow the CARPRO DLUX coating to cure 1-3 hours without water being introduced to the surface.
- If it gets wet during the first 24 hours, wipe off water before it dries on the surface as a precaution.
- After 3 days you are free to wash as needed.
Important Precautions:
Brand New Vehicles (Textured Plastic):
MANY people use DLUX ceramic coating on new textured plastic successfully. However, the reason we have a warning is because of possible complications that can arise a year later due to variables out of our control. A car dealer may use a very high silicone content dressing on the trim before selling it to the new owner, and some of this may not be able to be removed before the application of CQUARTZ DLUX. That can cause it not to bond and create an unsightly appearance if not entirely bonded. We believe it is also possible that the plastic may “gas out” for a year or so after being created, and potentially that gas could get caught between ceramic and plastic and create tiny microscopic bubbles that start to make an unsightly dulling appearance. In the rare instances that it happens, there is no surefire solution to removing the discoloration or white dots due to the fact it is nearly impossible to effectively polish a ceramic coating off textured plastic without changing its appearance.
Matte Finish Surfaces:
With regard to coating a matte or satin finish surface, we personally advise against using any semi-permanent coating on a matte finish or any finish that you are not able to polish.
The reasoning is twofold:
1. Applying CQUARTZ DLUX Trim & Wheel Coating to a surface that you cannot polish in case you need to remove the product is not logical to us. The liability involved in such a thing just doesn’t make sense to us.
2. You cannot polish the surface to prep it in the first place, so a proper bond isn’t guaranteed.
For a matte finish coating that is not semi-permanent and can be removed without polishing, see Dr. Beasley's Matte Paint Coating.
Safety Precautions:
- Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
- Wear appropriate protective gloves.
- Do not ingest.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Keep away from heat.
- Use only for the intended application
Shelf Life:
- *Ceramic coatings have a finite shelf life and should be installed within 12 months of purchase.
